"I can't wait to see the campaign come to my community. Girls want to talk about things which impact them."
"I learned that I am not alone, that others have problems too and that there are solutions to our problems. I learned many things and I felt comfortable talking about my body and menstruation. I will definitely share with others what I have learned ."
What is a Dignity Day?
A Dignity Day is a one-day event that trains and teaches girls about identity, belonging and purpose in God. Through group discussions and creative activities, girls evaluate what they believe about themselves, they identify the voices they are listening to and make a choice to embrace our God-given identity. They look at their uniqueness, the value of being part of a sisterhood, and what purpose they have as women in this world. The program also includes sessions on puberty, feminine hygiene, and menstrual management. The girls are also introduced to the use of the menstrual cup and washable panties and pads and receive a free sustainable menstrual product of their choice.
How can you host an event?
If you desire to host a Dignity Day, we would love to support you! It is a great idea to share the vision for the Dignity Campaign with your church or NGO. This ensures that you have their full support and blessing. We ask that before you host a Dignity Day, you attend a Dignity Facilitator Training.
Once you are trained and ready to run a Dignity Day, we will provide you with the curriculum and workshop materials, give advice, and assist you in marketing and fundraising for your campaign.
When the Dignity Day is over, we encourage you to stay in touch with the girls and invite them to the next step, which is attending a 12-week Cherish Dignity Program.
What is the cost?
The cost per girl attending a Dignity Day is R 300. This amount includes a sustainable menstrual product of their choice, which lasts up to five years.
