Western Cape Champion Camp: A Weekend of Joy, Growth & Connection

ree

Our Western Cape Champion Camp was nothing short of extraordinary. From 17–19 October, more than 50 girls and 10 dedicated facilitators came together in beautiful Franschhoek for a weekend filled with excitement, learning, and meaningful connection.

We were thrilled to host five vibrant groups from Mitchells Plain, Phillippi, Rocklands, Khayelitsha, and Constantia Primary, the school we have been partnering with throughout the year. From the moment the girls arrived, their joy was contagious. They sang and danced their way to their rooms, setting the tone for an unforgettable camp experience.

Highlights of the Weekend

One of the most heartwarming parts of camp was seeing how quickly the girls bonded. Many arrived knowing only their own group, but soon friendships formed across communities. The unity among the girls was incredible, whether working together in team activities or cheering each other on, they showed true sisterhood.

Facilitators shared that the camp felt like a safe space, a place where they could connect deeply with God and witness the spiritual and personal growth of each participant. Many girls stepped into their talents with confidence, surprising even themselves with what they could do.

Fun, Friendship & New Experiences

The camp was packed with activities that kept the girls energized and engaged. Some of their favourite moments included:

  • Learning new dance routines

  • Splashing and playing in the swimming pool

  • Participating in exciting games and challenges

  • Connecting with new friends from different communities

Each activity opened a door for laughter, teamwork, and discovery.

A Sacred Moment: Table of Grace and Mercy

Our final session, Table of Grace and Mercy, created one of the most powerful moments of the weekend. The atmosphere shifted as girls opened their hearts; sharing, asking for prayer, and supporting one another. Many encountered God in a personal, tender way.

One mentor expressed how meaningful it was to share communion with her girls, explaining the significance of Jesus’ sacrifice and why we remember it. It was a moment of reflection, healing, and gratitude.
