Recently in Johannesburg, 10 teenage girls gathered at Articulating Life for a Dream Day filled with laughter, honest conversations, and powerful moments of self-discovery.

The day was facilitated by Sharon and Catherine, two incredible women from The Dignity Campaign's Mentorship Program, who created a space where every girl felt seen, valued, and safe to participate.
A place to be yourself
One of the strongest themes that emerged from the girls' feedback wasn't just what they learned, it was how they felt.
"You can be open and honest without feeling bad or people judging."
That kind of environment doesn't happen by accident. Through games, discussions, and creative activities, the girls build trust from the very beginning, allowing moments to share openly and encourage one another.
Discovering who we are
Identity was one of the standout sessions of the day. Many of the girls said it was their favourite topic because it reminded them that their worth isn't defined by others.
Some of their reflections included:
"I loved Identity, it showed me to be myself."
"I learnt that I have identity."
Sometimes the most profound truths are also the simplest.
Learning the power of "No"
If there was one lesson that kept appearing throughout the feedback, it was boundaries.
The girls spoke about learning that setting boundaries is healthy, courageous, and an important way of protecting their dignity.
"I liked boundaries, because it teaches that you can say no."
"I learned that I have to set boundaries."
For young women navigating friendships, family dynamics, and growing independence, knowing they have permission to say no is a life-changing lesson.
Moments they'll remember
The feedback also highlighted several activities that made the lessons come alive:
Bursting balloons filled with negative words and lies they had believed about themselves.
The "Find the Teen" activity, helping them connect and learn more about their peers.
The doll demonstration, which sparked meaningful conversations about value and identity.
Interactive games that made learning both engaging and memorable.
As one girl summed it up:
"It was fun and I learned a lot about myself and others."
We love hearing and seeing the impact our programs are having! We're exciting to see the journey these girls will continue to go on.
