Dream Day Brings Hope and Confidence to Girls in Madagascar

Recently, our partners at Mercy Ministries Madagascar hosted three Dream Day events, creating safe and encouraging spaces where 55 teenage girls could grow in confidence, learn about their identity, and gain practical knowledge for navigating adolescence.

Held in churches and community centres across Madagascar, each Dream Day gave girls the opportunity to ask questions, build friendships, and discover their value and purpose. Through interactive sessions, they learnt about puberty, menstruation, personal hygiene, and most importantly, who they are in God.

One of the highlights was seeing the program continue to multiply through local leaders. While one Dream Day was facilitated directly by the Mercy Ministries team, the other two were led by facilitators who had previously been trained. It was encouraging to see new leaders stepping out to serve the next generation. As they continue to facilitate more programs, their confidence and impact will only continue to grow.

The Dream Day program had a noticeable impact on the girls who attended. Many left with a stronger sense of self-worth, greater confidence, and a clearer understanding of the changes taking place in their bodies. They were equipped with practical knowledge about puberty, menstruation, and healthy hygiene habits, while also being reminded that their identity is found in God.

Like many community programs, there were a few challenges. Late arrivals occasionally affected the schedule, but the facilitators adapted well and were able to complete the sessions successfully. The events were also supported by dedicated volunteers and translators, demonstrating the importance of teamwork in creating meaningful experiences for the girls.

The testimonies shared by participants captured the heart of Dream Day:

"I was able to speak freely and with confidence about anything related to intimacy."
"Knowing who I am in God has made me want to know Him more."

These stories remind us that Dream Day is about far more than information, it's about transformation. Through the commitment of our partners at Mercy Ministries, teenage girls in Madagascar are discovering confidence, dignity, and hope for their future.

We are grateful for the faithful work of Mercy Ministries and look forward to seeing even more young lives impacted as trained facilitators continue to reach girls throughout Madagascar.
