One of our mentorship groups, lead by Marie, recently held a Dream Day in Durban as part of the mentorship program. The event was a truly meaningful and encouraging experience, especially because this is the very first year we are running the mentorship program in KwaZulu-Natal.
The opportunity to begin this journey in KZN was inspired by a training weekend we conducted last year with King's Community Church. That training planted the vision and passion for mentorship in this region, and it has been exciting to now see that vision come to life through this Dream Day.
The group welcomed 10 girls who participated wholeheartedly throughout the day. One of the greatest highlights was how well-structured the program was. The sessions flowed smoothly, and the girls responded with excitement and interest from beginning to end. It was encouraging to see how engaged everyone was during the activities and discussions. Every girl participated actively, shared openly, and contributed equally, making the environment warm, supportive, and interactive.
What stood out most was the unity among the girls. There was no single participant who stood out above the others because each girl brought her own unique voice and energy to the day. Their willingness to engage and learn together created a beautiful atmosphere of connection and growth.
Like any event, there were also a few challenges. One of the main difficulties was not having a projector or speaker available. This made it harder for the girls to clearly follow some of the content from the computer. However, this experience helped identify areas of improvement for future sessions.
Looking ahead, the next step in the mentorship journey is the discipleship program. Marie is planning to hold these sessions on Sundays, where they will go into greater detail to deepen understanding, growth, and personal development.
We are so expectant to see the growth and impact that the mentorship program will have on these girls, and we are excited that they have now begun this journey together.
