Our First Ever Western Cape Dare Champion Camp

ree

What an incredible milestone, our first ever Western Cape Dare Champion Camp was a huge success! Held in the heart of the Western Cape, the camp brought together about 50 boys for a weekend they’ll never forget.

From the moment the buses arrived, excitement filled the air. The weekend was packed with adventure, from canoeing, football, swimming, and feeding camels to powerful sessions of journalling, vision boarding, and engaging with God.

Each activity had a purpose: to help the boys discover more about themselves, build brotherhood, and encounter God in real, personal ways.

One of the most talked-about moments was our “Redeemed by Fire” activity. The boys were invited to write down their struggles or fears on a blank sheet of paper, then throw it into the fire as a symbol of letting go and starting fresh. One camper shared:

“My favourite activity was Redeemed by Fire because of the way you write your problems on a blank paper and throw them into the fire.”

Another boy reflected on the spiritual moments, saying:

“I loved engaging with God because I learnt how to communicate with Him.”

Others spoke about the friendships formed over the weekend:

“I loved connecting with other young boys who want to make a positive impact in their lives and communities.”

These powerful words remind us why we do what we do, to create a safe, faith-filled space where young men can grow, dream, and build lasting connections.

A huge thank you to our mentors, volunteers, and supporters who made this first camp possible. You’ve helped ignite something truly special in the lives of these boys, and this is only the beginning.
